Making Tea is a collection of some of my shorter writings. The meat of the book is a selection of fifteen of 2007's best-received essays from my blog, refined and polished for publication. In addition to these, I have appended my longer essay on Christian community entitled "The Bloody Chair". Lastly, this volume includes my prize-winning short story "The Fall", which launched my writing career.

"The Fall" was selected as one of ten finalists from over one thousand entries entered in the WORLDview Fiction Contest, a 2004 contest cosponsored by WORLD magazine and Westbow Press. My pastor encouraged me to enter the contest - but at the time, I had not written anything that would suffice. However, I had held for quite some time in my head a picture of an autumn wood with a slightly haunted feel. From this picture was born the tale of a man who takes a "spirited" walk through the woods on a moonlit September night...

Whether you are a regular reader of my blog or a first time visitor to this site, I’d really be jazzed if you’d consider my book. Its format makes it ideal for those who, by either preference or necessity, take their reading in biscuit-sized portions. In the time it takes to make a cup of tea, you can enjoy a bit of Making Tea. Evangelistic in flavour, yet warmly Reformed in its tone, this book is the perfect gift for those - either within or without the Christian faith - who are willing to give matters of faith & life a thoughtful hearing.
