I wrote Soulmancer back in 2005, after a good finish in a short story contest landed me an opportunity to put a full-length novel in front of a commercial publisher. The result was eleven months of very late nights, very full pipes, and very bleary-eyed next days at work. When I finally got the book sent - the lady at the publisher’s with whom I had worked had left the company. They still “looked” at my book... just long enough to circular file it.
After another attempt with a commercial publisher failed, I decided this year to publish on my own. I bought ISBN numbers, registered myself as a publisher, and off I went. The first edition was printed through CafePress. The current edition has a cover designed by my buddy Rick over at Elemental Design, and is being printed by BookSurge. The book has done pretty well, both in reader feedback and in sales - especially considering that I have a $0 promotional budget.
If you’re a fan of epic fantasy, I’d really be jazzed if you’d consider my book. Although certainly no equal to the likes of Lewis or Tolkien, I do place it in that tradition. It is not allegory, but it does contain Christian thematic elements from a distinctly Reformed worldview.
SPECIAL OFFER: If you purchase a copy of Soulmancer and would like it signed, just email me your name and address and I will sent you a signature on an adhesive label which you can then place inside the book - free of charge. Consider it my small way of thanking you, the reader.
